Job summary

Shoe Carnival in Merrillville, IN is seeking a Store Lead to oversee an area of the store and grow into a leadership role. You will greet customers, train associates, manage cash handling, and organize merchandise to support daily operations.

This role offers flexible full-time or part-time hours, a team-focused environment, and opportunities for advancement. Compensation starts at $11.75 per hour with daily pay available.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• At least 1 year of retail, sales, or cash handling experience preferred.
• Ability to learn and operate the POS system.

Responsibilities

• Lead a department (e.g., Women’s, Men’s or Kids) and support store standards.
• Greet and assist customers with a positive attitude.
• Train and guide associates on service, product placement and cash handling.
• Handle transactions, returns and till counts as needed.
• Organize merchandise, displays and assist with truck unloading and floor moves.
• Promote current sales and programs.
• Delegate tasks and communicate clearly with the team.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a department (such as Women's, Men's and Children's departments) and support overall store standards
• Greet and assist customers with a positive, helpful attitude
• Train and guide associates on service, product placement, and cash handling
• Handle transactions, returns, and safe/till counts as needed
• Organize merchandise, displays, and help with truck unloading and floor moves
• Promote current sales and programs
• Delegate tasks and communicate clearly with the team

What We're Looking For:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Confidence in taking initiative and leading by example
• At least one year experience in retail, sales, or cash handling (preferred)
• Ability to learn and operate the POS system
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be at least 16 years old

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs during shifts
• Comfortable bending, squatting, and reaching for merchandise
• Able to move quickly in a fast-paced store environment
