Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Cashier/Stocker to support store operations. You will unload trucks, stock and organize merchandise, assist customers, and operate the cash register with a focus on accuracy and service. The role involves opening/closing the store as directed by the Area Manager and maintaining a clean, safe shopping environment.

Experience in cash handling and basic math is required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relocation assistance is not available.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the prescribed process for the store.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes per store processes.
• Stock merchandise and rotate displays; build merchandise displays.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety (floors, restrooms, stockroom).
• Greet customers entering the store and help set up displays.
• Operate the cash register and process purchases; bag merchandise.
• Handle payments and give change to customers.
• Open/close the store under Area Manager direction.
