Job summary

Dutch Bros Coffee in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Store Designer I to translate operational needs into brand-aligned architectural concepts, supporting Real Estate, Construction and Operations.

You will review plans, create site concepts, and coordinate with external architects and consultants to ensure quality and timelines while maintaining design prototypes and brand standards. Four days in office with an optional remote Friday.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in architectural design or space planning within the QSR, retail, restaurant, or hospitality sectors.
  • Knowledge: Building materials, construction techniques, and spatial efficiency for high-volume drive-thru or retail operations.
  • Technical Competencies: Proficiency in BIM / Drafting (Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
  • Markup & Collaboration: Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Graphics / Presentation: Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Core Competencies & Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design Concepting & Plan Review.
  • Create site plans, interior equipment test fits, and preliminary building concepts based on brand standards and operational needs.
  • Review architectural plans submitted by external architects, legacy franchisees, and developers for compliance with brand standards and workflows.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for standard architectural prototypes and design details.
  • Project Coordination & Partner Management: Collaborate with consultants, vendors, and architects to integrate changes into designs.
  • Track review status and provide weekly updates to leadership; ensure submittals adhere to timelines.
  • Log and manage the disbursement of proprietary designs across projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, landlords, officials, and design teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Industry Alignment: Evaluate materials and products for durability and cost-effectiveness; monitor design trends.
  • Participate in professional industry organizations to stay current with trends.

Position Overview:

The Store Designer I supports the Re al Estate, Construction, and Operations teams by producing and re viewing site plans, interior test fits, and building elevations. This role works di re ctly under the di re ction of the Di reCTOR of Design & Architectu re and the VP of Design & P re -Development to transform operational re qui re ments into accurate, brand-aligned architectural concepts. You will also partner closely with external architects, developers, and consultants to ensure project plans meet Dutch Bros quality standards, timeline targets, and intellectual property guidelines.

Key Result Areas:
  • Design Concepting & Plan Re view
  • C re ate site plans, interior equipment test fits, and pre l liminary building concepts based on brand standards and operational needs.
  • Re view architectural plans submitted by external architects, legacy franchisees, and developers to ensure compliance with Dutch Bros Brand Standards, operational workflows, and trademark guidelines.
  • Support to maintain up-to-date documentation for all standard architectural prototypes and design details.
  • Project Coordination & Partner Management
  • Collaborate with outside consultants, vendor partners, and architects to integrate operational changes into building designs efficiently.
  • Track project re view status, provide weekly updates to internal leadership, and ensu re submittals adhe re to target timelines.
  • Log and manage the disbursement of Dutch Bros proprietary designs and intellectual property across all active development projects.
  • Build and maintain positive professional re l ationships with external vendors, landlords, local municipal officials, and design teams aligned with Dutch Bros co re values.

  • This position is located in Phoenix, AZ and requires four days a week in office (Mon-Thurs) with Fridays as an optional remote day.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptionsMust be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings
  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels
  • Mobility : Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches. Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds
