Job summary

The Salvation Army Athens Service Unit in Athens, AL is seeking a part-time Store Associate with benefits. You will assist customers donating, selecting, and purchasing store items, operate and maintain a cash register, and help keep displays clean and secure.

Responsibilities include handling transactions, stocking and sorting donated items, and ensuring a welcoming, organized shopping environment. High school diploma or GED recommended; related retail experience preferred; 403b and PTO are

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred with experience in a retail setting.
• OR any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• License & Certifications: None.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Decatur Athens Al Service Unit - Athens, AL 35611, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Salary Range: $10.00 - $10.00 Hourly, Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: Monday thru Saturday 8:30am – 5:00pm

This position is responsible for: Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists customers purchasing items by utilizing a cash register.
• Maintains store and warehouse area by cleaning floors, tables, racks, and work area.
• Receives, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
