Job summary

Island Hospitality Management is seeking a Store Clerk to manage merchandise and provide quality customer service to guests and customers. The role may require flexible scheduling to accommodate guest occupancy and seasonal needs.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, completing sales transactions, maintaining displays, and assisting with inventory and vendor deliveries while upholding store safety and cleanliness standards.

Qualifications

• Basic computer proficiency including email and internet use.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and complete all sales transactions
• Maintain neat, attractively displayed merchandise and ensure stock availability
• Operate register and related payment terminals including cash, card, and checks
• Receive payments and provide accurate change
• Notify Resort Manager of cash shortages and inventory shortages
• Assist with merchandise orders and vendor deliveries
• Perform opening and closing duties as assigned
• Provide passes to overnight campers and register guests
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of store facilities and equipment
• Familiarize yourself with the resort reservation system to assist guests when needed

Description

As our Store Clerk, you will handle all aspects of merchandise while working to ensure our guests and customers receive quality customer service.

This position may require flexible scheduling availability.

Job Requirements

• Greet customers, answer the telephone courteously, and complete all sales transactions
• Ensure merchandise inventory is kept neat, attractively displayed, and sufficiently stocked
• Communicate inventory shortages to the Resort Manager and Store Supervisor
• Operate cash register, fuel console, lottery machine, money order machine, and telecom transactions
• Receive payment from customers in cash, check, or credit card and accurately count and provide change when applicable
• Reports cash shortages to the Resort Manager as needed
• Assist with merchandise orders, receive and verify vendor deliveries, and stock merchandise as requested
• Maintain a good working relationship with vendors
• Perform shift opening and closing duties as assigned by Store Supervisor
• Greet and register overnight campers and provide passes to registered guests
• Clean and maintain both the inside and outside areas of the store
• Inspect store facilities and equipment to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and proper working order
• Report all issues to Resort Manager and Store Supervisor when applicable
• Become proficient in the Resort reservation system to assist with Guest service when needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
