Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is seeking a Store Cashier to deliver friendly, efficient service at the register. You will ring up sales, handle cash, checks, and cards, and assist donors and customers with a positive, professional attitude.

Training on the touch-screen registers and basic computer tasks is provided, with emphasis on accuracy and policy adherence. Ideal candidates are at least 18, with high school or equivalent education and prior retail or cashiering experience

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older or as required by local law.
• High School education or equivalent preferred.
• Prior retail or cashiering experience is highly preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate touch-screen registers.

Responsibilities

• Ring up all sales transactions and process payments accurately.
• Greet and assist customers and donors with a friendly attitude.
• Direct customers to appropriate areas and provide general information.
• Keep the register area clean and organized; follow cash handling policies.

Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating a cash register, and greeting and assisting customers/donors.A Day in the Life of a Store Cashier!You will find yourself:Greeting each customer with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.Providing prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.Directing customers to the proper area and providing general information as requested.Ringing up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.Ensuring that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.Following all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards, and change Round Up program.Keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.Answering telephone calls promptly using an established etiquette procedure.Assisting sales floor employees with stocking and recovery.Physical and Environmental Work Conditions:• Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.• Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.• Standing and walking for long periods.• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).Education and/or Experience:• Must be 18 years of age or older.• High School education or equivalent is preferred.
