Job summary

Town Pump Company is seeking a Store Assistant Manager to join our team. The role supports the store manager in enforcing standards, managing pricing, inventory, signage and promotions, while ensuring cleanliness and safety across the store.

You will also cover for the manager, assist with scheduling, paperwork and payroll duties, and coach staff to maintain exceptional customer service. The position emphasizes leadership, coordination of daily tasks, and effective communication with customers

Responsibilities

• Assist the store manager in enforcing decisions aligned with Town Pump standards, policies and procedures.
• Assist with pricing, inventory, merchandising, store appearance and cleanliness, product dating, outdated merchandise and vendor coordination.
• Serve as acting store manager during the manager's absence and fill in for absent staff, especially on tills or in the deli.
• Assist with employee scheduling and completion of paperwork including cash handling and books.
• Advise the store manager on personnel situations or policy violations affecting operations.
• Prioritize, organize, delegate and follow up on shift tasks; maintain orderly cashier lanes and stock areas.
• Order products, ensure accurate pricing and maintain product inventory; manage displays, signage and promotions.
• Conduct basic store maintenance, promote safety and handle administrative duties including bookkeeping, payroll and daily deposits.
• Supervise staff training and onboarding as directed by the manager.
• Greet customers and provide exceptional service, exemplifying professionalism and teamwork in Convenience Store Operations.
