Position Summary

The Storage Platform Engineer (SPE) builds and supports modern data infrastructure that enables advanced business capabilities across AWS, Azure, and on premise. The SPE manages cloud storage services, including AWS (S3, EBS, EFS, FSx), Azure (Blob Storage, Azure Files, Managed Disks, Data Lake Storage), and Azure Local (Storage Spaces Direct, Azure Managed Disks). The role also supports PG&E enterprise block and file storage platforms used for mission-critical, high-performance, and file-based workloads, including Dell PowerMax, Dell PowerFlex, Dell PowerStore, DellUnity 380F, IBM FlashSystem, IBM SVC, Elastic Cloud Storage, Power Vault Storage, Cisco MDS SAN fabric technologies, and Dell PowerScale/Isilon NAS. The role focuses on designing reliable storage pipelines and storage structures that support analytics, AI, and machine learning workloads. The SPE also integrates AI capabilities into storage platforms to improve automation, optimization, and predictive maintenance.

The role includes developing AI-driven workflows that support storage maintenance and performance tuning. Infrastructure provisioning for storage resources is managed through Terraform, including multi-cloud resource provisioning, lifecycle policies, encryption, replication, and access control as code. Deployment automation is implemented through Azure DevOps pipelines, including storage provisioning, backup validation, and environment promotion from DEV to PROD.
