At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a STORAGE OPERATIONS LEAD supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Austin Texas, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Join GDIT to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the Infrastructure Operations Support Services program. As the Storage Operations Lead, you will oversee enterprise storage operations—ensuring availability, backup integrity, disaster recovery readiness, security compliance, and optimized capacity across VA’s multi‑petabyte storage environment.
You will lead governance and performance oversight for SAN/NAS platforms, storage clusters, replication, Commvault data protection, and related operational metrics. You will work closely with storage engineers, data protection teams, cybersecurity staff, hosting leaders, and VA stakeholders to improve reliability, resiliency, and compliance across all storage services. You will manage performance measurement processes, coordinate testing cycles for backup/restore and replication, validate SLAs, and maintain dashboards, logs, and recurring reporting packages. You will refine operational workflows, reduce backup failures, strengthen documentation, and embed performance and security requirements throughout the storage lifecycle. You will also coordinate across hosting, database, and virtualization teams to ensure aligned and efficient operations.
You will engage directly with VA leadership and service line managers to communicate storage performance expectations, deliver reviews and briefings, and recommend improvements. Your communication practices will enhance transparency, alignment, and confidence in storage service delivery. You will drive continuous improvement by identifying gaps, optimizing replication and backup processes, modernizing documentation, strengthening controls, and advancing automation across storage operations. Your leadership ensures VA’s storage environment remains reliable, secure, resilient, scalable, and continuously improving.

The likely salary range for this position is $123,250 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
