Job summary

Edgewater Federal Solutions seeks a Principal Storage Engineer III to support enterprise storage, data management, and mission-critical infrastructure on federal programs. Roles cover storage arrays, file protocols, virtualization, and data migration in secure environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years storage experience.
• Active Top-Secret Clearance or eligible.
• Advanced storage vendor certifications preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Experience with mainframe storage using FICON is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support highly available enterprise storage arrays and networking.
• Manage SMB/NFS protocols and FC/ISCSI connectivity.
• Work with Windows Server AD/LDAP/DNS/NTP/Kerberos affecting storage access.
• Handle Windows NTFS security, ACLs, and VSS.
• Understand POSIX permissions, DFS for SMB high availability.
• Perform file migrations with Robocopy/Rsync.
• Minimize risk and downtime during changes in enterprise environments.
• Know RAID, tiering, caching, deduplication, replication and snapshots.
• Familiarity with VM environments (VMware vCenter/vSphere/vSAN) for storage.
• Exposure to additional storage platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supporting highly available enterprise grade storage arrays and storage networking equipment.
• NAS/file storage protocols such as SMB/CIFS, NFS v3 and v4.
• ISCSI and/or Fiber Channel Fabric connections to switches and arrays.
• Functional knowledge and experience with Windows Server operating system and Active Directory/LDAP/DNS/NTP/Kerberos - specifically how these affect network file system storage access in Windows.
• Windows NTFS security settings, Windows ACLs, VSS snapshots.
• POSIX OS ACLs/mode-bits as it pertains to file system permissions.
• Managing Windows Distributed File System (DFS) for SMB HA.
• Experience with file-based data migrations utilizing applications like Robocopy and Rsync.
• Methodical approach to change execution and implementation to avoid risk and downtime in an enterprise environment.
• Understanding of storage concepts like RAID, hard disk technology, disk/device tiering (HSM), disk cache, compression, data-deduplication, replication, snapshots, and host multipathing.
• Understanding of block, file, and object-based storage as well as their appropriate use cases.
• Familiarity with virtualization, VMFS, vVols, specifically VMware VCenter/vSphere/vSAN as it pertains to thin provisioning storage and data reduction techniques.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: Cohesity, Pure Storage Flash Array or FlashBlade, Dell EMC, object protocols (S3), Dell Compellent, Western Digital Intelliflash, NetApp, EMC VNX, Isilon, Hitachi Arrays and Hitachi Command Suite.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of storage related experience.
• Must have active Top-Secret Clearance or be eligible.
• Advanced mainstream storage vendor certification preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Experience managing and maintaining mainframe storage systems using the FICON (Fiber Channel Connection) protocol is highly preferred.
