Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a seasoned Backup and Storage Infrastructure Engineer in Riverwoods, IL for a 12-month assignment. You will manage, optimize, and secure enterprise storage and backup environments across SAN, NAS, and cloud storage, driving design, implementation, and ongoing operations.

The role requires 4+ years as a Storage Engineer, strong data protection skills, scripting for automation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of hands-on experience as a Storage Engineer in an enterprise environment.
• Extensive experience with enterprise data protection solutions (NetBackup or Commvault), disaster recovery and multi-site replication.
• Deep expertise in a variety of storage and storage virtualization technologies, including at least two major vendors (e.g., IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage).
• Solid understanding of storage protocols such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash) for automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Data Protection & Security: Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
• System Management & Maintenance: Administer SAN, NAS, and cloud-based object storage environments.
• Design & Architecture: Collaborate to design scalable, resilient storage solutions.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor and optimize storage performance.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Lead root-cause analyses for storage incidents.
• Automation: Develop Ansible automation to streamline tasks.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive backup/storage documentation.
• Mentorship: Guide junior engineers on the team.
• Agile: Participate in Agile product meetings and deployments.
