Job summary

Technologix IT Inc. is seeking a senior z/OS storage administrator to install, customize, upgrade, maintain, and tune Mainframe storage environments including IBM and third-party offerings.

The role covers disaster recovery solutions and on-call support, with hybrid work options in Raleigh, NC or Washington DC. The candidate will manage DASD and tape storage, capacity reporting, and enable secure, highly available systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in z/OS storage technical support.
• Expert knowledge and use of DFSMS, SMPE, Storage tools, JCL, System maintenance and patching.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Works unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside vendors.
• Shuffles priorities in response to a changing workload.
• Keeps up with changing technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide administration and technical support of z/OS DASD and tape storage environment, including problem analysis and resolution.
• Monitor, support, maintain, and enhance associated storage, backups, and data replication for customer Sysplexes.
• Create, support, enhance, and review weekly and monthly storage capacity reports to ensure availability and performance objectives and make proactive recommendations for capacity upgrades.
• Assist with system solution design including concept presentations and investment proposals.
• Perform application-facing duties for all storage-related activities enterprise-wide (e.g. change notification, test coordination, user education, single point of contact for associates with storage issues, etc.)
• Provide on-call support and respond within the agreed SLA. Satisfy any on-site support requirements as required.
• Installing, customizing, maintenance and migration to new levels of OEM and ISV Software Products.
• Consulting with the customer on configuration changes and new features of software and hardware.
• Support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Isolation Testing exercises.
• Support design and migration of DASD and tape storage environments to new hardware.
• Ensure that the DASD and tape environments comply with customer security standards.
• Manage changes within standard control processes and mechanisms.
• Produce clear technical documentation.
• Conform to customer audit requirements.
