Job summary

Coldspring in Cold Spring, MN seeks a Hand Polisher 2 to apply polished surfaces to complex stone work using hand tools and a variety of polishing processes. The role requires reading production tickets, operating a crane, and performing precise layout, drilling, grinding, and finishing to meet specifications.

Responsibilities include edge shaping, edge rounding, and final inspection to ensure conformance. The position is full-time, with scheduled shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem solving and time management.
• Mechanically inclined with general math skills.
• Able to read work orders and tape measures (imperial/metric).
• Willingness to cross-train and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Interpret production tickets to ensure stone meets specifications.
• Operate overhead crane and lift table to move and turn stone.
• Layout stone using patterns and tape measure.
• Drill holes in stone with hammer or core drill.
• Mark edges with chalk and grind/polish as required.
• Shape edges with grinder and finish with polishing tools.
• Polish stone surfaces and edges with buffers and polishing compounds.
• Select appropriate tools/pads to prevent damage; use torch when needed.
• Apply knowledge of stone characteristics to achieve proper polish.
• Inspect finished stone against production ticket.
