Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled storeroom associate for our manufacturing operations in the U.S. The role handles inventory control, receiving, and material movements in SAP, with forklift/crane operations and strict adherence to 5S standards. You will verify shipments, sustain accurate records, and participate in Kaizen activities to improve processes.

The position is full-time, onsite, with hourly pay around $28.73 and a benefits package. OSHA safety compliance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of drawings and assembly techniques used in manufacturing.
• Operate hand or power vehicles and overhead crane as required.
• Maintain and pass certificate to operate material handling equipment.
• Maintain 5S standards and a clean, safe work area.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize work and determine methods within established system.
• Operate storeroom and fill requisitions; assign stock locations.
• Evaluate workload and report to supervisor.

• Compare quantities with packing lists and orders.
• Open containers for packing lists and inspection.

• Must understand drawings and assembly techniques of products.
• Operate material handling equipment and pass certification.
• Maintain time, quality, quantity records and clean area.
• Participate in Kaizen, 5S, and problem solving teams.
• Follow all safety policies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Perform and make decisions as to work priority, methods and procedures within established system.
2. May assume normal operation of a storeroom with minimum higher level instructions. Includes filling requisitions promptly and assigning locations for stock.
3. Evaluate and report workload to supervisor.
4. Count and check material received in storeroom to check inventory records, distribute received materials in bins, containers or piles in storage area.
5. Detect and report defective material, report shortages or low stock.
6. Control and record all activity of purchased material stages in the storeroom.
7. Perform necessary transactions to relieve inventory and process production documentation in SAP or other network system.
8. Receive, may unload and move incoming shipments of merchandise, and keep records pertaining thereto.
9. Compare quality and identification numbers of merchandise against orders and assure packing list quantities match that which has been received.
10. Open wooden and cardboard containers for packing list and inspection.
11. Verify receipt of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
12. Requires a working knowledge of drawings, assembly techniques used and different products manufactured.
13. Operate hand or power vehicles and overhead crane in performance of duties.
14. Pass and maintain certificate required to operate appropriate material handling equipment as required by lease agreement and/or State/Federal codes.
15. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
16. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
17. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
18. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA’s.
