Food Clerk-Stocker

Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and guide customers politely to products.
2. Stock, merchandise, and correct product displays actively.
3. Build and maintain attractive displays as needed.
4. Follow standards for perishables and safety procedures.
5. Transport goods within the department.
6. Ensure compliance with health and safety codes, check pricing and expiration dates, and maintain organized areas.
7. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisors, including assisting other departments to serve customers.
8. Stay updated on safety standards and understand the use of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
9. Read and understand merchandising labels, order codes, reports, invoices, and forms.
10. Follow store policies, understand equipment operation, and provide clear verbal instructions when needed.
11. Prioritize safety by practicing store safety rules, reporting hazards, and removing broken containers or debris.
12. Operate equipment like balers, case cutters, and pallet jacks (must be 18+ for some equipment).
13. Manage damaged or unsalable products, sorting for return to the reclaim center.

Qualifications

1. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Relevant experience preferred.

Specific Tasks

1. Lift up to 50 lbs., including overhead.
2. Maintain signage and pricing accuracy.
3. Care for signs, banners, and clean daily operations debris.
4. Respond promptly and politely to questions from customers, coworkers, and vendors.
5. Use store phone and intercom systems properly.

Work Environment

Indoor work with temperature, humidity, and dust transitions near entrances, exits, and parking areas.
