Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Materials Management position focused on stocking, rotating, and distributing medical supplies across hospital departments. You will maintain inventory levels, ensure accurate labeling, and support the Inventory Coordinator in daily tasks within the Supply Chain Operations center.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate with minimal supervision, and adapt to a high-demand hospital environment. Signing bonus may be available during interview.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts.
  • Strong arithmetic and basic math skills.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
  • Strong background in materials management.
  • Must be able to complete tasks without supervision.
  • Ability to move wheeled equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Preferred hospital experience.
  • 1 year as a distribution aid recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Stock supplies to maintain inventory levels across clinical areas.
  • Rotate and reprocess supplies to keep stock current.
  • Handle stat requirements quickly and accurately.
  • Conduct physical inventory of supply locations.
  • Maintain par level re-supply systems.
  • Provide back up to Inventory Coordinator.
  • Assist in year end physical inventory.
  • Ensure all stock items have accurate stickers.
  • Prioritize duties to complete responsibilities.

Under the direction of the Manager of Materials Management, prepares/assembles, distributes/transports med/surg supplies, equipment, food, patients and other items as may be necessary. Stocking supply rooms throughout the hospital. Initiating new supply areas to meet joint commission standard. Controlling par levels for each item by daily reordering. Rotation of product. Candidate will participate in Shipping/Receiving duties. Maintain clean and safe work environment.

I. Major Responsibilities:
  • Stock supplies to maintain required inventory levels in all clinical areas, according to departmental protocols.
  • Rotates and reprocesses supplies to assure that stock is current and up-to-date
  • Handles all stat requirements quickly and accurately.
  • Conducts physical inventory of supply locations.
  • Identifies and reports all supply distribution problems to Director.
  • Maintains automated and manual par level re-supply systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring all stock items that are chargeable have appropriate and accurate stickers.
  • Provides back up to Inventory Coordinator.
  • Assists in year end physical inventory
  • Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
