CDR General Services LLC seeks an experienced Stick Welder (SMAW) for a full-time, permanent role in Port Allen, LA. The ideal candidate will weld on vessels, barges, and marine equipment, following high safety and quality standards.

You will perform SMAW on carbon steel in various positions, fabricate and repair structural components, read blueprints, and maintain equipment in a shipyard environment. This role requires outdoor work, heights, and proximity to water.

Qualifications

• Pay Rate: $25–$28 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)

Requirements

• Perform Stick welding (SMAW) on carbon steel and other materials in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Fabricate, repair, and maintain structural components, including hulls, decks, frames, and bulkheads.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and job specifications.
• Prepare and clean welding surfaces using grinders, cutting torches, and other tools.
• Conduct visual inspections to ensure weld quality meets marine industry standards.
• Perform welding and repair tasks outdoors, at heights, over water, and in confined spaces as needed.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition.
• Follow OSHA regulations, company policies, and shipyard safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in Stick welding (SMAW).
• Previous shipyard, dry dock, or marine welding experience .
• Strong knowledge of structural welding, fabrication, and repair techniques.
• Ability to weld in multiple positions, including vertical and overhead.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
• Experience working with carbon steel and structural metal components.
• Comfortable working outdoors, in confined spaces, at heights, and around water.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and commitment to quality workmanship.
