North Carolina State University is seeking a Stewardship Officer in Raleigh to serve as a stewarded engagement expert within the Office of Development Communications and Stewardship. You will work across Central Major Gifts, Gift Planning, and Leadership Giving to strengthen donor relationships and enhance recognition reporting.

The role requires coordinating acknowledgments, leading stewardship strategies, and guiding annual priorities across university advancement.

Qualifications

Essential Job Duties:

The Stewardship Officer is an important position within the Office of Development Communications and Stewardship (DCS), serving as a resource and stewardship expert for University Advancement, with a focus on the work in the offices of Central Major Gifts, Gift Planning and Leadership Giving. The position will maintain strong working relationships with teams across the division while also contributing to several key projects and initiatives that support the broader goals and priorities of DCS.

Other Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position are:

• Administers the acknowledgment process for university and division leadership, coordinating logistics to ensure the timely delivery of accurate, personalized messages of gratitude.
• Leads stewardship strategies for select leadership giving donors, participating in donor strategy sessions and directing action steps, including opportunities for personalized engagement, meaningful recognition and impact reporting.
• Advises on the planning of annual stewardship priorities across respective areas, guiding the development of special projects and key initiatives.
• Advances the stewardship planning and implementation of other universitywide events and initiatives, including campaign stewardship, Pack Appreciation Day, Day of Giving and others as needed.
• Plans and deploys special-day donor communications (e.g., birthdays, holidays).
• Serves as the liaison with Donor Services regarding endowment reports for select donors and universitywide funds.
• Provides timely updates to donor records including documentation of stewardship-related activities and constituent biographical information.
• Follows emerging trends and best practices in stewardship and donor relations strategy.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years or greater of relevant experience.

Other Required Qualifications:

• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively with varied groups and build relationships with internal colleagues and university partners.
• High-level project management experience; capable of managing competing priorities and multiple deadlines, and seeing projects through from beginning to end.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity in dealing with confidential donor information.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google Workspace.
• Ability to work to the demands of the position, which may occasionally exceed a 40-hour work week.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct experience with stewardship and donor engagement.
• Professional work experience within large decentralized organizations.
• Experience working in university advancement / development within higher education.
• Prior experience with donor databases and Adobe InDesign.
