Job summary

Proof of the Pudding is seeking Stewards for Mississippi State University (MSU) in Starkville, MS to support the Performance Dining Team. This seasonal/part-time position entails dishwashing, kitchen upkeep, and assisting in food service prep areas within stadium environments.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year kitchen or steward experience, is a strong team player, and may hold ServSafe certification. The role involves standing for long periods in hot, fast-paced settings with uniforms and safety

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ year of kitchen or steward experience preferred, customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be a phenomenal team player.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean kitchen, washes and sorts dishes, and assists with food prep as needed.
  • Sets up dish stations and ensures proper dishwashing procedures.
  • Assists in food service prep areas and with equipment/inventory control.
  • Supports chef with other duties as requested and works in fast-paced environments.

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout the Southeast with a commitment to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more.We are currently seeking Stewards for Mississippi State University (MSU), located in Starkville, MS to provide back of house support for our Performance Dining Team.This is seasonal/part-time work based on business needs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains a clean kitchen, properly washes, and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift.Properly washes, stacks, and stores China, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers.Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes as needed.Assists with equipment & inventory control, maintenance of the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties.Helps run food to food service prep areas.Assists in other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed.Performs other related duties as required.Education and/or Experience:High School diploma or equivalent preferred.1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred, experience in customer service role is preferred.Must be a phenomenal team player.ServSafe Certified preferred.Specialized Qualifications:Excellent listening and communication skillsThe ability to work alone and as a team.Self-motivated with a high energy levelAbility to follow directions.Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.Work EnvironmentThis position may be throughout the stadium, in and out of kitchens, suites, clubs, and walkways. This position will spend the majority of time in the kitchen and dish pit area where there will be hot water, chemicals, and typical kitchen equipment and utensils.
