Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans.
• Operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Store clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in assigned areas.
• Maintain clean and orderly kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Stock supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars.
• Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans.
• Sort and remove trash to designated pickup areas.
• Assist with food preparation during staffing shortages or peak periods.
• Aim to improve guest satisfaction and uphold service standards.
• Follow sustainability guidelines under the Green Key program.
• Practice safe work habits and wear required safety equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

SUMMARY:

The Steward is a team-player with strong attention to detail, efficiency in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of cleanliness. This position is responsible for dishwashing, pot and pan cleaning, equipment maintenance, and proper storage of kitchenware. The Steward assists chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring workstations remain clean and organized while adhering to strict sanitation and safety standards. By delivering impeccable service, the Steward will uphold La Bahia Hotel & Spa’s service standards (inspired by Forbes) while elevating our beachfront property.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY:

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans.
• Operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in assigned storage areas.
• Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition.
• Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars.
• Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans.
• Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
• Perform food preparation functions in the event of staffing shortages or during peak periods.
• Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
• Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to the Green Key program.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow company standards.
• Perform all other duties that may be assigned as needed by your manager.
