Job summary

Perseid Restaurant in Houston, located inside Hotel Saint Augustine, seeks a Steward to support culinary and dining operations. You will join a team that values creativity and guest experience, working with Hyatt and local partners to deliver outstanding service.

This role focuses on dishwashing, maintaining clean work areas and keeping supplies stocked, with family-friendly hours including afternoons/evenings. Previous hospitality exposure preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
• Ability to work primarily afternoon and evenings, with a flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests

Responsibilities

• Bus dining room and patio. Keep tables clear of dishes and food remnants
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand
• Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas
• Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
• Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
• Sweep and scrub floors
• Clean garbage cans with water or steam
• Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
• Assist in unloading deliveries (food and supplies)
• Ensure open lines of communication via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
• Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
• Attend relevant meetings
