Hotel Equities is seeking a dependable Steward to join our team. You will support kitchen operations by cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment, and by maintaining sanitary, organized workspaces that meet food safety standards.

You’ll follow health department guidelines, operate dishwashing machines, assist with basic kitchen prep, and help train new stewards. This role requires teamwork and flexibility in a fast-paced hotel setting.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a restaurant, hotel kitchen, dishwashing, or food service environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning procedures, and food safety practices preferred.
• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment and use approved cleaning products.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.

Job Description

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is seeking a dependable, hardworkingSteward to join our team.

As a Steward, you'll play an important role in supporting kitchen operations, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring our culinary team has the equipment and supplies needed to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Job Purpose

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the kitchen and food service areas. This position supports daily culinary operations by cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and workspaces while ensuring compliance with established food safety and sanitation standards.Working closely with culinary and food and beverage teams, the Steward helps maintain an efficient, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment that supports exceptional guest service.

What You'll Do

• Clean, wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.

• Safely operate commercial dishwashing machines and other kitchen cleaning equipment in accordance with established procedures.

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen areas, including dishwashing stations, food preparation areas, storage spaces, and floors.

• Follow all applicable health department regulations, food safety guidelines, and company sanitation standards.

• Monitor dishwashing equipment and report maintenance or operational concerns to the appropriate department.

• Ensure kitchen associates have access to clean dishes, utensils, and equipment throughout service periods.

• Properly handle, store, and dispose of waste, recycling, and cleaning materials.

• Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen floors and work areas to maintain a safe working environment.

• Assist with organizing and maintaining kitchen supplies, cleaning products, and equipment.

• Support culinary associates with basic kitchen preparation and organization tasks as needed.

• Assist with training new stewards on cleaning procedures, sanitation practices, and equipment operation when assigned.

• Help verify that assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed according to established standards.

• Identify and promptly report potential safety hazards, sanitation concerns, or equipment issues.

• Maintain a professional, positive, and cooperative attitude when interacting with guests and associates.

• Follow all company, hotel brand, safety, and operational policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel kitchen, dishwashing, or food service environment preferred.

• Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning procedures, and food safety practices preferred.

• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment and use approved cleaning products.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and maintain productivity during busy service periods.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Frequently bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, and pull while performing cleaning and sanitation tasks.

• Lift and carry dishes, kitchen equipment, cleaning supplies, and other materials as required.

• Perform repetitive movements associated with washing, cleaning, and handling kitchen equipment.

• Work in environments with varying temperatures, including hot kitchens, dishwashing areas, and refrigerated storage spaces.

• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation products in accordance with established safety procedures.

• Work around wet floors, hot surfaces, and commercial kitchen equipment while following established safety precautions.

• Maintain the visual and hearing abilities necessary to perform essential job responsibilities.

• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
