Jacintoport International LLC is seeking a longshore supervisor to oversee stevedore functions during vessel operations and provide operational support for stowage. The role requires leadership, forklift experience, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of longshore experience or equivalent heavy cargo handling in port environments.
• Strong leadership experience supervising warehouse labor and crews.
• Minimum 1 year forklift operation with 9K/30K/52K models.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to read, write and speak basic English.
• Able to obtain HAZMAT certification within 90 days of hire.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and adapt to shift changes.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety guidelines and the approved stow plan for loading and discharging vessels.
• Supervise and coordinate loading and discharge operations during vessel movements.
• Ensure gear is safe and in good condition before use for lifting cargo.
• Communicate with staff using two-way radios during operations.
• Coordinate with U.S. Customs during cargo operations.
• Lead assigned personnel and maintain confidentiality of information.
• Operate forklifts (9K/30K/52K) when moving cargo as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position involves the responsibility of overseeing the stevedore functions during vessel operations, providing operational assistance during vessel stowage, while maintaining communication with the Equipment Operators and Stevedores physically loading the vessel. The job functions must be carried out in accordance with general work instructions and established office practices, procedures and precedents.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Must have a minimum of one (1) year of industry‑related experience performing Longshore functions, both onboard vessels and onshore. In lieu of Longshore experience, candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year warehouse or industrial yard experience involving heavy cargo handling, operation of large‑capacity forklifts, and use of heavy‑lifting equipment (e.g., overhead cranes) in a port, marine terminal, or similar industrial environment.
• Must have strong leadership skills with experience in supervising warehouse labor and operation, including experience supervising crew members and carrying out supervisor duties.
• Must have a minimum one (1) year forklift experience, operating 9K, 30K or 52K forklift.
• Must be Forklift Certified.
• Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Basic English.
• Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
• Must be able to obtain HAZMAT certification within 90 days from hire.
• Ability to meet and deal effectively with stevedore co‑workers.
• Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team‑oriented work environment
• Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
• Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions
• The position requires a flexible schedule, including rotating overnight and day shifts, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

• Performs all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines
• Follows stow plan for the loading and discharging of vessel
• Supervise and coordinate loading and discharge during vessel operations
• Ensure gear is in good condition before use when lifting cargo
• Report any damages or accidents immediately to Superintendent
• Use two‑way hand‑held radios to communicate with staff while operation is in progress
• Comprehend and communicate flagman hand signals

• Cooperate with U.S. Customs during cargo operation for each vessel

• Maintain complete confidentiality of all information
• Leads, supervises and works with assigned personnel in the performance of their duties.
• Operate 9K, 30K or 52K forklift when needed to move cargo to designated area
• Report employees not using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to Superintendent

• Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable
• The employee must be able to work in high altitudes
• The employee is occasionally required to sit (while driving), grasp and exercise eye‑hand coordination and eye‑hand‑foot coordination.
• The employee is frequently required to reach forward, exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion and finger dexterity.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their fingers

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives direct supervision from the Superintendent and exercises supervision over Operators, and Longshore workers on the vessel.

CONDITIONS:

• Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as cold, extreme heat, rain, snow, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts
• The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts

• The employee is continuously exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
