The University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine (SDM) islooking for a full-time Sterilization Technician Trainee. Under thedirection of the Clinical Support Services department leadership,our Sterilization Technicians support clinical operations for theentire School of Dental Medicine (SDM). These positions areintegral to dental education clinical operations, focusing onsterilization and sterile processing with the opportunity fortraining and career growth in a healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instrument and Equipment Sterilization – 85% (EssentialFunction)
  • Perform cleaning and decontamination of all instruments andequipment according to established procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure proper cleaning of sanitizing machines and relatedequipment.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate levels ofsterilized items for distribution.
  • Inventory cassettes and instruments for precise disbursement tooperatories and clinical units.
  • Monitor the sterilization cycle to ensure compliance withsafety and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure all equipment is functioningproperly.
  • Report and document malfunctions or needed repairs to maintainoperational standards.
  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments to sanitizing machines asrequired.
  • Oversee the collection of used instruments and equipment toinitiate the sterilization process.
  • Maintain accurate records of collected items to supporttracking and compliance.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure timely and efficient collectionpractices.
  • Instrument Distribution – 15% (Essential Function)
  • Prepare specialized instrument set-ups for use by undergraduatestudents, residents, and faculty.
  • Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to identifyspecific set-up needs.
  • Ensure that specialized instruments are sterilized and readyfor patient treatment sessions.
  • Issue sterile reusable instruments to operatories and clinicalunits.
  • Collect and resterilize used instruments.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located inAurora, Colorado.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal); ability tointeract with sterilization staff and supervisor on a daily basisto meet the demands of clinical and educational operations.
  • In-depth understanding and demonstrated knowledge, skills, andabilities in proper decontamination, sterilization, and instrumentpreparation.
Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position hasbeen established as (minimum – 50th posting max)

$3,294 - $3,862 per month

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith andreasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at thetime of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class seriesas this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per thestate Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
