Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician with a specialty in ophthalmology to join our dedicated medical team in Oakbrook Illinois. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and infection control, ensuring that all ophthalmic instruments are properly sterilized and prepared for use in patient care. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of instrument sterilization processes, specifically for ophthalmic instruments, including decontamination, cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and storage.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, ensuring all are functioning correctly and meeting industry standards.
  • Monitor and document sterilization processes, verifying that all instruments meet safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure timely preparation and availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and manage the ordering of necessary supplies for instrument sterilization.
  • Follow and enforce all relevant safety regulations and protocols to minimize the risk of infection or contamination.
  • Participate in continuous education and training to stay updated with advances in sterilization techniques and best practices in the ophthalmology field.
  • Assist in developing and updating sterilization procedures and protocols in line with current healthcare standards.
Qualifications
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (such as CRCST or CSPDT) is required.
  • Previous experience as a sterilization technician, particularly in an ophthalmology or eye care setting, is preferred.
