Job summary

Nu-Image in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, disinfect and sterilize surgical instruments and patient care equipment in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will support radiology prep, record vital signs, enter patient information, and prepare consent forms, while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional conduct according to OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of OSHA infection control and safety procedures.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.
• Effective English communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment room following procedures and protocols.
• Take and record vital signs (BP, respiration).
• Take dental radiographs and manage sterilization inventory.
• Enter patient data and prepare consent forms for procedures.
• Provide post-operative care instructions and schedule next visit.
• Maintain equipment and instruments; ensure cleanliness and sterilization.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Other duties as assigned.

Description

The primary purpose of the Sterile Processing Technician is to collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment. Facilitates services including blood pressure, radiographs, charting all medical health histories and seeing post-operative apts.

Essential Duties:

• Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Takes and records patient’s vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate.
• Takes dental radiographs, prepares prescriptions, maintains inventory of supplies in sterilization.
• Enters patients’ treatment in computer and prepares all consent forms regarding surgery and the use of anesthesia.
• Gives patients post operative care instructions.
• Schedules patients’ next visit appointment.
• Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization.
• Adheres to office education and protocol.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and conducts self in a professional manner.
• Any other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies.
• Ability to attend to multiple tasks at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required.

Education / Experience Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Special Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:

• X-Ray Certification
• BLS Certification (preferred)
