North Pittsburgh Oral Surgery Assoc. LTD is seeking a Sterilization Technician to support our clinical team in New Castle, PA. Under doctor supervision, you will sterilize, scrub, and prepare instruments and trays for procedures, ensuring efficiency and patient safety.

You will also handle waste disposal, autoclave operation, inventory restocking, and basic emergency protocols while maintaining patient confidentiality and a professional demeanor in a fast-paced dental practice.

Responsibilities

• Remove waste from surgical trays and place in proper receptacles.
• Scrub, sterilize and package instruments.
• Maintain and operate autoclave machines.
• Ensure surgical trays are properly equipped and oriented.
• Maintain environmental controls for contaminated areas and equipment.
• Restock clinical and surgical supplies daily or as needed.
• Be available to assist other surgeries when not preparing trays.
• Prepare post-op bags and gauze packs.
• Know and implement emergency management protocols.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Travel to other offices as needed.
• Inform Clinical Manager of staff or patient issues or conflicts.
• Assist teammates to complete tasks; promote teamwork.

Job Summary:

Under Doctor supervision, prepares for and performs complex clinical duties following established procedures in the operatory and consult rooms. All sterilization technicians must strive to present themselves as professionals while carrying out their duties and responsibilities. A sterilization technician’s image and presentation to patients are a reflection both on the doctors and on NPOS. Through teamwork, sterilization technicians keep the office flow moving in a smooth and efficient manner, while maintaining a positive, respectful, and caring attitude toward patients, doctors, and co-workers.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

All shall be performed according to OSHA, DEA, HIPAA, and NPOS guidelines and expectations.

• Remove waste from surgical trays and place in appropriate receptacles
• Scrub, sterilize and package instruments
• Maintain and operate the autoclave machines
• Ensure that surgical trays are properly equipped and oriented
• Practice NPOS environmental control for contaminated work areas and equipment
• Restock in an organized manner, the clinical and surgical supplies delivered to the office on a daily or as needed basis
• If not preparing a surgical tray, be available if help is needed by a fellow assistant in another surgery
• Make up post op bags, monoject and gauze bags
• Know & be able to implement emergency management protocols
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Travel to other offices, as needed
• Inform Clinical Manager of any staff or patient issues, concerns, or conflicts
• Be willing to help with any additional tasks as designated by the managers or Doctors
• When clinical responsibilities are accomplished, assist your co-workersin accomplishing theirs. THIS MUST BE A TEAM EFFORT.
