Job summary

Pride Health is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician in Neptune, NJ to support cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of instruments and reusable equipment. This role ensures compliance with infection control standards and prepares case carts for procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 5+ years of sterile processing experience, Central Processing course, and CRCST/CBSPD certification. Evening shifts, 5x8 hours, rotating weekends.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sterile processing or instrument processing experience.
  • Completion of a Central Processing course or equivalent sterile processing experience.
  • National certification required: CRCST or CBSPD.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization techniques.
  • Experience operating Steam, ETO, Sterrad and Steris systems.
  • Ability to document sterilization in records and tracking systems.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 60 lbs, and standing long periods.
  • Available to work every other weekend and rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (Steam, ETO, Sterrad, Steris).
  • Perform and document Bowie-Dick testing to ensure sterilization quality.
  • Maintain sterilization records and instrument tracking documentation.
  • Prepare and assemble case carts per surgical cards.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff on missing instruments or shortages.
  • Follow infection prevention standards and PPE guidelines.
  • Assist with inventory management and organize the sterile processing area.
  • Transport equipment and supplies safely as required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to support the safe cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining sterilization standards, preparing case carts for surgical procedures, and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris systems.
  • Perform and document biological and Bowie-Dick testing to ensure sterilization quality.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and computerized instrument count documentation.
  • Prepare and assemble case carts according to surgical preference cards.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff regarding missing instruments or supply shortages.
  • Follow infection prevention standards, Universal Precautions, and proper PPE guidelines.
  • Assist with inventory management and maintain an organized sterile processing department.
  • Safely lift, push, pull, and transport equipment and supplies as required.

  • Completion of a Central Processing course or equivalent sterile processing experience.
  • National certification required: CRCST or CBSPD.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization techniques, detergents, disinfectants, and infection control practices.
  • Experience operating Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris sterilization systems.
  • Ability to accurately maintain sterilization documentation and computerized instrument tracking systems.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 60 lbs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and rotating shifts as needed.
  • 13-week contract position
  • Shift is 5×8-hour shifts, Evening (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) (40 hours/week)
  • Location is Neptune, NJ 07754
  • Pay Rate for Locals: $30 - $34 Hourly
  • Pay Rate for Travelers: $1,440 - $1,480 Weekly
