Job Summary

All CDC recommended vaccines are required vaccinations at Oaklawn. Seasonally, and upon determination of Senior leadership, the Influenza Vaccine may be mandatory; in those years, compliance is required. For all vaccines, Religious Exemptions and Medical Contraindications are available.

Essential Functions

• Disassembles, sterilizes, and disinfects all surgical equipment.
• Participates in receipt, storage and distribution of supplies and instruments needed for Operating Rooms.
• Sterilizes and disinfects all surgical instruments.

Minimum Qualifications

18 years of age. Proven experience in sterile processing environment. Sterile Processing Certification within one (1) year of hire. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Sterile Processing Certification preferred. One (1) years’ experience in sterile processing, preferred. Knowledge of Operating Room materials preferred. Basic working knowledge of computers. Skilled in instrument decontamination, processing, and assembly. A thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of sterilization procedures and techniques.

Working Conditions

Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements

Constantly talk/hear. Frequently stand, sit, walk, reach, push/pull, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift/carry 50+ lbs.
