Job summary

TRIMEDX seeks a Sterilization Technician in Pittsburgh, PA, to maintain and repair a range of clinical equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction. Job description

Summary

The Sterilization Technician focuses heavily on sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and cart washers. Knowledge of Steris, Amsco and/or Getinge sterilizers is beneficial but not required. The role involves maintaining many classes of clinical equipment, performing troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Availability for travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Technical Service (40%)
  • Conduct performance assurance inspections, scheduled maintenance, and operation verification procedures on complex medical sterilization and decontamination equipment.
  • Repair and calibrate sterilization and decontamination equipment.
  • Inform supervisors of repair status, inspections, unusual situations, and customer concerns.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors to ensure proper service delivery.
  • Maintain field expertise through ongoing training and education.
  • Assist with service operations special projects and mentor others.
• Regulatory Compliance (25%)
  • Maintain accurate equipment database, inventory, and performance assurance schedules.
  • Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan and all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Ensure all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.
• Account Relationship Management (25%)
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Discuss equipment status and functionality with customers.
  • Represent the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Serve as an ambassador for TRIMEDX by integrating core values into job performance.
• Inventory (10%)
  • Perform periodic inspections of inventory and maintain common failure parts inventory.
  • Verify security analysis completion for new customer equipment.
  • Conduct incoming inspections to keep accurate equipment inventory.
  • Maintain equipment database accuracy and integrity.
  • Recommend inventory improvements.

Skills And Experience

• Minimum 6 months of experience repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or installing sterilization and decontamination equipment.
• AC/DC electrical knowledge, ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Plumbing knowledge, ability to read piping diagrams and identify components.
• Ability to integrate information from various sources.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; variable travel may require use of personal vehicle.

Education and Qualifications

• Two-year degree in a technical or electronics field or equivalent experience; waiver possible with TRIMEDX Trained Certification or equivalent biomedical certification.
• Fine motor skills required during equipment installation, servicing, and maintenance.
• Ability to bend, kneel, climb, balance, and otherwise maneuver while servicing equipment.
• Operate tools or machinery with hand/foot controls (e.g., drills, saws, test equipment).
• Lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs while working with equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and networking applications.
