Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking an Instrument Equipment Technician to support infection control by cleaning, sterilizing, and handling surgical instruments and OR equipment. The role emphasizes aseptic technique, decontamination, and adherence to safety standards to maintain readiness across departments.

As part of the team, you will operate sterilization equipment, assemble and wrap instruments, and ensure supplies are available and in working condition while following hospital policies and standard

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent, or 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of sanitary, infection control and safety standards.
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and decontamination methods.
• Experience operating sterilization equipment.
• Ability to assess equipment and ensure supplies are available.
• Ability to replace or repair instruments.

Responsibilities

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform all assignments within the safety parameters.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, decontamination methods, sterilization process, testing and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate, assemble and wrap appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital established policies, quality assurance, safety and infection control policies and practices.
• Assess appropriate equipment and instruments needed for all departments and ensure all supplies are available and in working condition.
• Replace or repair instruments or equipment that are not working.
• Follow proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and/or probes.
