The Opportunity

The Sterilization Engineer will work in our Austin, TX location within the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, focusing on innovative products for diabetes management, including glucose monitoring technologies.

What You’ll Work On

The role involves leading resolution of complex process engineering problems related to sterilization of medical devices, designing and developing equipment, and implementing solutions in manufacturing systems. You will exercise judgment in experiments, report results, and build internal and external networks.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, develop, and validate manufacturing processes and equipment per medical standards. (25%)
  • Improve and optimize processes and equipment, lead cross-functional teams for implementation. (25%)
  • Develop process/product specifications, conduct analyses, and author validation reports following design controls. (25%)
  • Participate in technical design reviews and communicate effectively within teams. (25%)
  • Manage engineering change orders and ensure compliance with standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; 6+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, medical device regulations (ISO13485, FDA).
  • Technical experience in mechanical or chemical engineering, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in complex calculations, process development, and working in regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of sterilization principles and validation, especially irradiation sterilization.
Additional Information

Base pay ranges from $85,300 to $170,700, depending on location and experience.
