Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the re-processing of surgical instruments in a fast-paced hospital environment. The role involves cleaning, assembling, sterilizing instrument sets, and organizing case carts for surgeries at UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye and related facilities.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of sterile processing experience, plus CSPDT or CRCST certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and one year experience in Sterile Processing required.
• Currently certified as CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (HSPA) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for re-processing sterile instruments.
• Clean, assemble and sterilize instrument sets for surgery.
• Assemble and organize case carts for surgery.
• Stock supplies and perform biological testing of sterilizers.
• Operate all sterilization equipment.

Job Description

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in Sterile Supply required.
• Currently certified as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) with the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) with the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required.
