Overview

Title: Sterile Processing Technician/Sterile Processing Technician Trainee (Full Time/Second Shift)

Department: Sterile Processing | Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

Schedule: Trainee: 3:00pm–11:30pm (on a trainee track). Full-time Sterile Processing Technician: Second Shift; Weekly hours: 40; FTE: 1.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment.
• The Sterile Processing Trainee position engages in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Sterile Processing Technician.

Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Technician — Required Education and Experience: Certification from one of the following:
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM; or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD; or
  • Equivalent certification from a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; and
• Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. Note: Degrees must be from an accredited college/university or recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as acceptable educational practices.
• Sterile Processing Technician Trainee — Required Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. Note: Incumbents must obtain CRCST or CSPDT certification or equivalent within one year of appointment as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CRCST or CBSPD certified and have sterile processing experience.
• Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills.
