11am - 7:30pm/ Full Time/ 40 Hours

Salary range - $21.33-$30.02

We'reseeking aSterile Processing Technician for Emory Clinic Ambulatory Surgical Center responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety for all patients.

This individual will:

  • Assembles special procedure trays for such complex surgeries such as open heart, transplant, major orthopedic surgeries, neurosurgical, laparoscopic, and spine surgeries.
  • Uses computer to scan PIC tickets on instrument trays and case cart protocol. Properly operates cleaning and sterilization equipment such as washers, sterilizers, sonic cleaners and cart washers.
  • Restocks prep areas with supplies and takes inventory of sterile instrument pans and trays. May retrieve contaminated equipment, supplies, trays, and instruments from patient care areas for cleaning and sterilization.
  • May collect needles and sharp containers from O.R. for proper disposal.
  • Monitors all sterilization equipment by testing and recording indicators. Assists in training staff in the identification of surgical instruments and individual pans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and aptitude required. Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM or two years of experience in lieu of certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation.
  • Ability to act as a resource for staff in both SPD and OR regarding identification and assembly of specialty instruments and trays.
  • Ability to work daily in a fast-paced Healthcare Services environment. Ability to perform tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality.
  • May be required to work various shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime hours.
