Job summary

Compass Surgical Partners is seeking a Central Processing Sterile Technician for the NYC Joint & Spine Center in Englewood, NJ. You will clean, sterilize, assemble, and store surgical instruments to ensure the operating team has safe tools for patient care.

The role features a Monday–Friday schedule, PRN hours, and no nights or weekends. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preferred sterile processing certification and a current BLS credential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in sterile processing preferred.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire if required).
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, sterilize, and package instruments and equipment according to standards.
• Assemble instrument trays and maintain labeling and storage.
• Operate sterilizers, washers, and related equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor and maintain sterile supply inventory; check for outdated or compromised items.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with teammates, physicians, and other staff.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant sterile processing work area.

Role Summary

The Central Processing Sterile Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, and storing surgical instruments and equipment. This role ensures the operating team has the tools needed for safe, effective patient care, directly supporting the perioperative process and overall patient safety.

Hours: Monday–Friday schedule, PRN (hours vary). No nights, weekends, holidays, or call.

What You'll Bring

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs)
• Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and sterilization equipment in a fast-paced environment
