Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). The role involves cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and high level disinfection of surgical instruments and medical devices.

You will monitor environmental conditions, sterilization processes and HLD, assemble/d dispatch case carts, and manage SPD inventory and supplies. CRCST or CBSPDT certification is required; STERRAD sterilization experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

The certified Sterile Processing Technician within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) performs all tasks associated with the processing of surgical instruments and medical devices including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization/high level disinfection; monitoring of environmental conditions, sterilization processes, and HLD processes; assembly and dispatching of case carts and emergency carts; and inventory and ordering of SPD supplies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Experience with STERRAD sterilization.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• National Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPDT).

Working Conditions:

Lifts a minimum of 30 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of length of shift.
