Job summary

Virtua Health in Voorhees Township, NJ is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support infection control by preparing and sterilizing instruments used in operating rooms and other areas.

The role requires performing cleaning, disinfection, and distribution of sterile equipment, handling endoscopes, and delivering supplies across departments. A high school diploma is required, with CRCST/CBSPD certification within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
• CRCST/CBSPD Certification required within 6 months of employment, CER preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepares, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages of individual items for sterilization.
• Collects, cleans, disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments collected from clinical units, the O.R., L&D and other areas performing invasive procedures.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new hires.
• Operates, monitors and documents biological and mechanical results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Delivers patient care equipment, takes inventory of specialty carts and replenishes supplies for department and centralized O.R. Case Cart System. Prepares and distributes clean and sterile equipment and supplies.
• Transports soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.
