Job summary

Capital Health in Pennington, NJ is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments, and prepare trays for the operating room. You will operate washers and sterilizers, follow AAMI/AORN/Joint Commission standards, and track instruments using the tray system.

Requires high school diploma or equivalency, at least one year related experience, and CRCST certification recognized by New Jersey health authorities.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience: One year related experience. CRCST or certified through national sterile processing program recognized by New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.

Responsibilities

• Prepares instruments for decontamination by properly sorting and selecting correct process to assure integrity and prevent damage to rigid instruments, power instruments, flexible scopes, and any surgical equipment being processed.
• Operates all washers, sterilizers, sonics, and all other equipment in a proper and safe manner. Uses cleaning agents and chemicals per manufacturer instructions, and records test results.
• Triages instrumentation to meet customer needs and communicates status to customers.
• Inspects instruments for bio-burden and proper condition prior to assembling sets; initiates repairs as needed.
• Assembles correctly sets following count sheets, replaces missing instrumentation, and notifies supervisor of missing items.
• Wraps, packs, and labels all items in accordance with department policies; loads sterilizers and records items on logs; signs off on all work produced.
