Job summary

Peachtree Orthopedics in Cumming, GA is seeking an Instrument Technician to maintain instrument sets, decontaminate and sterilize equipment, and support OR readiness with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance. This full-time role collaborates with nursing leadership and the ASC team to ensure efficient operations.

The position requires a high school diploma, Sterile Processing experience, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in Sterile Processing required; AAMI standards knowledge preferred.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills; communicate effectively with OR staff and vendors.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Basic math skills and computer proficiency (Word/Outlook); Advantix experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
• Clean, assemble, wrap, containerize, sterilize, and store supplies/instrument trays as required and appropriate.
• Coordinate with supervisor to maintain instrument sharpening and repair schedules for assigned service line instrumentation.
• Perform biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards.
• Maintain recordkeeping and data required for Central Processing scope and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with Infection Prevention RN and Operations Manager to assure readiness for accreditation, licensure surveys, and regulatory reviews (e.g., CMS, OSHA, AAAHC).
• Review daily surgical schedule; stage instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled and emergent procedures.
• Demonstrate proper technique and safe operation of equipment in assigned work areas.
• Appropriately handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.
• Adhere to POSC procedures, policies, and standards; maintain assigned special assignments/areas.
• Train and onboard new employees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
