Summary

The Lead Technician is responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of Sterile Processing (SPD). Documentation of activities shall be maintained. Responsibilities include managing the flow of supplies to approximately 30 Nursing Units and Clinics. The role involves multi-shift scheduling for 3 to 6 associates and supporting the Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily SPD operations, participate in departmental decisions, budgeting, and safety.
• Assist in interviewing and onboarding new Technicians.
• Provide ongoing training and support for staff.
• Ensure compliance with sterilization procedures and guidelines.
• Develop and update department procedures to ensure quality patient care.
• Supervise adherence to sterilization protocols.
• Process instruments according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
• Coordinate with other departments, seek service improvements, and negotiate with vendors.
• Optimize product and service quality within budget.
• Adapt services to meet the specific needs of patients served.
• Assist in staff scheduling and assignments.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in Central Supply or Sterile Processing preferred.
• Certification: IAHCSMM Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech (CRCST) required.
