Job summary

Responsibilities include operating sterilizers, assembling instrument sets, logging processing, and ensuring sterility through standardized procedures. Telework is not available; standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Requires six months experience demonstrating ability to perform work or understand the work.
• Two years of education above high school with related courses or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English as required by VA regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions, medical terminology, sterilization and cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides segments of sterilization, preparation, decontamination, high level disinfection and distribution support.
• Operates sterilizers such as steam, Sterrad, Steris and high-level disinfecting processes.
• Assembles basic instrument sets and loads for use in the medical center.
• Documents daily checks and uses instrument tracking system.
• Inspects instruments and ensures proper reprocessing of reusable equipment.
