Job summary

Jefferson Regional is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, sterilize and assemble medical instruments, ensuring availability for surgical procedures. The role requires meticulous record-keeping and strict safety protocol adherence to prevent contamination and protect patient safety in the operating room.

Under the SPD Manager, you will support instrument processing, storage, and documentation, with shift coverage including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma in sterile processing or related field or Associate’s Degree in healthcare administration, supply chain, sterile processing, or related field preferred.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician – preferred
• Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certificate – preferred
• This is a safety sensitive position.
• Adequate verbal communication skills to interact with co-workers and other healthcare members.
• Able to multitask efficiently.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with excellent critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills.
• 1 year experience in health care facility or industrial warehouse distribution/inventory or surgical processing technician – preferred
• Familiarity with surgical supplies and medical terminology – preferred

Responsibilities

• Clean, sterilize and assemble medical instruments and equipment.
• Ensure all instruments are sterilized and properly stored, organized and readily available for surgical procedures.
• Maintain detailed records of sterilization process and follow safety protocols to prevent contamination.
• Contribute to preventing infections and ensuring patient safety in the operating room.

Education
