Job summary

SCA Health in Oak Brook, IL, is seeking a Sterile Processing Clerk (Instrument Processing Technician) to maintain instruments and equipment for surgical patients. You will work under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse to ensure sterile processing standards are met.

Required knowledge of sterilization processes and aseptic technique, with priority given to those who have instrument processing certification and BCLS readiness within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of sterilization/high-level disinfection technologies.
• Certification in instrument processing is preferred.
• Prior experience in instrument processing is preferred.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or current.

Responsibilities

• Maintains instruments and equipment in optimal condition.
• Prepares instrumentation, equipment and sterile supplies for the surgical patient.
• Works under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse.
• Cleans, wraps, sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment and returns to proper area.
• Assists with crossover duties in purchasing supplies and inventory management per policy.
