Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Tucson, AZ, is hiring a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to support the Sterile Processing Service (SPS). The technician will sterilize, decontaminate, prepare and store reusable medical equipment (RME) according to SOPs and safety standards.

Candidates must complete SPS Level 1 training within 90 days of hire and participate in ongoing education to maintain certification. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Complete SPS Level 1 training within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of SOPs for cleaning, decontamination, preparation, high-level disinfection, sterilization and storage of RME.
• Ability to document processes and maintain competency in reprocessing activities.

Responsibilities

• Complete SPS Level 1 training within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain knowledge of SOPs for cleaning and sterilization of RME.
• Receives, decontaminates and prepares reusable medical equipment (RME) per manufacturer instructions.
• Perform daily operational checks and document results for processes and equipment.
• Adhere to safety and infection control standards; ensure proper handling of RME.
