Job summary

St. Joseph Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, prepare and pack items for sterilization, and operate all departmental equipment in a timely, quality-driven manner.

The role supports the hospital mission and adheres to safety guidelines while ensuring instrument readiness for surgeries. Must follow established procedures and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Decontamination, preparation and packing of kits.
• Efficient time management and quality.
• Proper use of PPE.

Responsibilities

• Supports and promotes Covenant Health Values.
• Completes decontamination duties promptly and safely.
• Receives, sorts and processes reusable supplies and equipment; returns clean instruments to Processing.
• Assembles and packs instrumentation for sterilization for surgery; inspects serviceability and cleanliness.
• Operates department equipment, identifies malfunctions and follows QA indicators.
• Maintains logs and prepares case carts; handles STAT and emergency carts.
• Prepares items for sterilization, specialty carts and baskets per guidelines.
• Follows am/pm pick-up and returns cleaned equipment to storage with proper rotation.
• Cleans equipment and work areas; assists coworkers when done with tasks.
• Performs other duties consistent with the role.
