Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join the department. You will focus on cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, inspecting, and managing surgical instruments to ensure patient safety. This role does not involve direct patient contact.

Responsibilities include receiving used instruments, loading sterilizers, performing quality checks, and assisting with inventory and maintenance. Onsite work with a Monday–Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CRCST certification or eligibility required.
• Experience in sterile processing or central service preferred.

We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join the department to focus on cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, inspecting, and managing surgical instruments and medical equipment so they are safe for patient procedures. Although the role supports patient care indirectly, it does not involve direct patient contact.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday from 11:00am to 7:30pm

Summary

Responsible for performing advanced tasks in the sterile processing department of a healthcare facility. Does this position require Patient Care? No

Essential Functions

• Receive used medical instruments and equipment from the operating rooms or other departments.
• Load prepared instruments and equipment into sterilizers, following prescribed loading patterns and protocols.
• Conduct regular quality checks of instruments, equipment, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with sterilization standards.
• Assist with managing inventory levels, including receiving, inspecting, and restocking sterile supplies.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced sterile processing technicians.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes
• Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required
• Experience: Experience as a Central Sterile Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• - Thorough knowledge of sterile processing principles, practices, and infection control standards.
• - Familiarity with medical instruments, equipment, and surgical procedures.
• -Endoscopy-Robotics- Proficiency in instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques.
• - Understanding of sterilization equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• - Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
