Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation. Work complies with IFU and regulatory requirements to support safe patient care.

Responsibilities include operating washers and sterilizers, inspecting items for cleanliness and function, assembling trays, tracking devices, and maintaining stock.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• CRCST certification preferred (HSPA)
• 0-1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Basic knowledge of sterile processing workflows and infection prevention practices
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation
• Operates washers, sterilizers and related equipment per policy and IFU
• Inspects instruments/equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness
• Assembles instrument trays and equipment according to tray listings
• Maintains instrument tracking and inventory; supports storage and distribution
• Reports equipment malfunctions and quality/safety concerns promptly
• Participates in training, competency validation and continuous improvement activities
