Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Sterile Processor to ensure proper care and maintenance of surgical instrumentation, equipment and sterilization processes in the OR. The position requires knowledge of aseptic techniques, ability to work under pressure, and effective communication with OR staff to maintain a safe patient environment.

Certification in Sterile Processing is preferred and one year of experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand English (verbal and written).
  • Certification in Sterile Processing is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year Sterile Processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate sterile processing equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ensure aseptic techniques and sterile practices are followed.
  • Communicate special equipment needs to the OR staff and monitor instrument schedules.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing supervisor and the Director of O.R., the Sterile Processor ensures proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterilization processes. The Sterile Processor must demonstrate good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic techniques, must have knowledge of equipment, instruments, procedures and supplies used in the operating room. The Sterile Processor must be able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience, tact and endurance. This position must provide on-going and continual communication with Operating Room staff, including communicating special equipment needs as they arise. The Sterile Processor must also monitor the daily schedule for changes in instrumentation.

Training, Education & Experience
