Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join the Sterile Processing Department. The role involves cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing surgical instruments, monitoring environmental conditions, and dispatching case and emergency carts.

You will ensure high-level disinfection and maintain SPD inventories. Required: High School diploma or GED, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.

The certified Sterile Processing Technician within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) performs all tasks associated with the processing of surgical instruments and medical devices including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization/high level disinfection; monitoring of environmental conditions, sterilization processes, and HLD processes; assembly and dispatching of case carts and emergency carts; and inventory and ordering of SPD supplies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Experience with STERRAD sterilization.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• National Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPDT).

Working Conditions:

• Lifts a minimum of 30 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of length of shift.
